Hurts to breathe in, have high blood pressure am I getting a heart attack?
Im 21 weight 340 with high blood pressure and a bit of diabettes and a liver problem. I ate 3 bowls of soup with pork meat and hominy. And a big cup of soda. I also suffer from panic attacks. I’m scared I’m dying right now or is it my panic attack also. I know I’m overweight and planning to start the new year with The Master Cleanse and change my diet and exercise. Hurts to breathe in, and heart palpitates and shortness of breathe.
Normally it wouldn’t hurt to breathe in with a heart attack–that’s more the symptom of respiratory disorder, such as plerisy or a blood clot. What you’ve eaten certainly could give you pretty severe indigestion as well, which can make pains that mimic a heart attack. Being heavy of course puts extra pressure at the top of the stomach, leading to painful upper digestive problems. However, with your weight and other medical conditions, it might be wisest to get to ER just in case.
4 Ways Guided Breathing Lowers Blood Pressure Naturally
salt intake, low blood pressure question?
i have very low blood pressure, in fact often times it comes close to being “dangerously” low. i eat a lot of salt though.. is this an instance where it is good for me to upkeep a high salt diet???
Low blood pressure(hypotension) may be low blood volume, heavy blood loss, (heavy peroids??) and maybe postural low blood pressure Salt may effect your kidneys by reabsorpting sodium(salt) and peeing out potassium. You may have a low potassium level. May want to have your electrolytes checked,( blood draw) Near normal Bp is 120/80. Controlling hypertensive is by sodium restriction, weight loss, drugs and life style changes

Is there any way to prevent sleep apnea?
I suffer from sleep apnea because of my high blood pressure, is there any way to prevent it? because it scares the hell out of me.
I am already taking losartan to control my hypertension, i am 29.
I’m not a doctor, so please don’t take what I say for anything besides layman’s advice. That said, here’s what I suggest.
My husband tends to have problems with both snoring and sleep apnea. What I’ve found helps him is sleeping on his side. I’ve read that somewhere, as well. If you find it hard to keep yourself sleeping on your side, it has been suggested that you can use a rubber band and a tennis ball and a t-shirt to fix the problem.
Take the t-shirt, and place the tennis ball on the inside of the back of the shirt. Then, secure it in place with the rubber band. Ideally, the tennis ball should be in about the middle of your upper back when you put on the shirt. Such placement would make it uncomfortable to sleep on your back, forcing you to sleep on your sides. Ideally, it should eventually “train” you to sleep on your side, so you wouldn’t always have to wear the tennis-ball-shirt to bed.
The only other factor that I’ve heard can help sleep apnea is to loose weight. That is a factor that is individual to each person, and may or may not apply to you.
Hope that helps!

Is this a good brand blood pressure cuff?
http://www.medisave.net/riester-velcro-cuff-latex-free-adult-size-21-65-x-5-70-1-tube-lf107.html
I just bought my littmann Master SE II stethoscope from this website and I have heard VERY good reviews from this site my EMS squad buys A LOT of their equipment from here. I was wondering if anyone has ever heard of this brand and if it is good. I was very pleased with your service and their shipping. I had gotten the stethoscope in about business days. Just trying to get some input from people who have heard of it or even people who use it. Please let me know I am a starting up EMT who plans to go into Emergency Medicine or Trauma Medicine. Please let me know. Thank you.
Littman makes very fine quality stethoscopes, probably the best out there. Blood pressure cuffs aren’t quite so critical for being highly precise in their readings. A variation of a few points one way or another isn’t going to be critical Subtle chest, abdominal and heart sounds can be CRITICALLY important, so the Littman stethoscope will come in handy there. Of course, it’s not the tools that makes a mechanic, it’s the training and experience. Carrying an expensive stethoscope is nice, but learning how to interpret what you hear is much more important. You can pick up MOST stuff you really need to hear with a $5 stethoscope. By the way, keep a VERY close eye on that Littman. They have a nasty habit of sprouting legs and walking away.

Frequent variation in Blood pressure reading?
I am in 32 weeks of pregnanacy. Two weeks before my BP was 140/87. Doctor suggested me to take BP tablets three times a day, two tablets each time(Alphadopa). We were closely monitoring BP. BP reading seems to be confusing. BP went down to 114/52. We started reducing the tablet dosage. Now, almost I stopped my tablets(120/70). But some times early in the morning, I could see the upper limit in increasing trend & lower limit in a decreasing trend. for example 136/52. What is this? I have Low BP or high BP? Additional information, I have reduced salt in my diet also. What else I can do? Please suggest me what should I do.
Blood pressure can vary throughout the day. I had to take blood pressure meds during both of my pregnancies, and when I first started taking them, I had dizziness and fainting spells, probably because they lowered it too much, but I was told to keep taking them and my body adjusted to them.
Sleeping on your left side will help your blood pressure. Resting on your left side whenever possible will help too. Drink lots of water.
You may have your baby sooner than your due date…that’s pretty common when you’ve got high blood pressure during pregnancy. You also may have to go to the doctor more frequently than a woman with no complications would.
Ask your doctor if you should be doing kick counts and if they plan to do non-stress tests…both will help reassure you that the baby is doing fine.

the effects of caffeine on heart rate / bp ?
i need as many articles / journals/ studies as possible on the worries of caffeine on heart rate or blood pressure!
names of journals / books, or ANY websites would be so helpful please!
thankyou!
Increasing the heart rate.
Caffeine binds to Beta-adrenergic receptors on the surface of heart muscle cells, which leads to an increase in the level of cAMP inside the cells (by blocking the enzyme that degrades cAMP), mimicking the effects of epinephrine (which binds to receptors on the cell that activate cAMP production). cAMP acts as a “second messenger,” and activates a large number of protein kinase A (PKA; cAMP-dependent protein kinase). This has the overall effect of increasing the rate of glycolysis and increases the amount of ATP available for muscle contraction and relaxation. According to one study, caffeine in the form of coffee significantly reduces the risk of heart disease in epidemiological studies. However, the protective effect was found only in participants who were not severely hypertensive (i.e., patients that are not suffering from a very high blood pressure). Furthermore, no significant protective effect was found in participants aged less than 65 years or in cerebrovascular disease mortality for those aged equal or more than 65 years.Research also suggests that drinking caffeinated coffee can cause a temporary increase in the stiffening of arterial walls.

Heart Issues? What Do You Think?
I’ve had this since I was a kid, and no one has been able to pinpoint what it is exactly..what do you think?
EKG normal
Average resting pulse 130bpm (up to 160 in my sleep, as recorded by a heart monitor I was on at one point)
Random arrhythmia
Low potassium
Borderline magnesium levels
Random chest pain/shortness of breath
Muscle cramps (in chest and extremties) and muscle Weakness
Occasional light headedness
I do NOT have high blood pressure, but that may be because they treated this mystery thing with massive amounts of beta blockers (250mg Atentylol) when I was a kid for a couple of years.
So…any thoughts?
This happens all the time. My pulse gets high even when I’m sleeping and my chest pains will sometimes actually wake me up.
A normal sinus rhythm (EKG) is good… That means you have not damaged anything yet…
First, make sure you have done a treadmill test at your doctors office…. I am assuming for this discussion you already have….
Next… Personally, without looking at your chart it would be hard to know for sure, but I think that the use of beta blockers where probably a mistake. They were simply covering up the symptoms and not fixing the issue.
As far as the arrhythmia, random chest pains, and muscle cramps… That sounds pretty easy to pick up on… The Low potassium most likely is the reason for that. You need to start eating plently of bananas daily, cut back on the coffee, and get regular blood work. If eating a couple bananas a day does not fix this, then you probably need to explore why this is occurring. There can be many reasons for this…
As far as the occasional light headedness, this is most likely a different issue but still related…. My first guess would be low blood pressure due to adrenal fatigue. Meaning, you need to start staying away from the coffee and other stimulants. If you do not, the eventually you will run the risk of developing what is called Addison’s Disease. Trust me that you do not want that….
Finally, you really need to start exercising as well and strengthen that heart of yours. With such a fast heart rate, it can show that you are completely out of shape. Start slow, but over time you will notice that heart rate coming down about 20% to 30% on average.
Good Luck and I Hope this Helps..

Why do I so often feel this pressure behind my eyes?
According to my eye doctor, the pressure in my eyes is completely normal, and my blood pressure is normal, as well, and I don’t have Glocoma. At random times during the day, my eyes just start hurting; they feel like they are being poked out from the inside. The pressure usually causes me to have really bad headaches. Watching tv or looking at a screen makes it worse, but that isn’t what causes it because it happens just randomly. My eye sight is fine. What could be the cause of this pain? Help, please! :/

Fruits when high blood pressure?
well, someone i know has high blood pressure and its pretty high. He doesn’t eat fruits because he says that they are too sweet. What if the fruits are naturally sweet, can they still eat it? or is it bad? ’cause this person i know, he wont eat any fruits often because he claims that they are too “sweet.” fruits such as apples, oranges, watermelons, cantelopes, pears, etc.? i’m confused right now and i don’t know what to do.
Is it that he doesn’t like the sweet taste or is he concerned about the natural sugars in the fruit? If it’s the latter, he shouldn’t be worried about it. Have him stick to berries or melons which are lower in natural sugars than say cherries and grapes but it’s still all good for you. Not only would he be getting the natural vitamins from the fruit, but he’d also be getting the right sort of fiber his body really needs. If he’s on certain meds though he needs to be careful with grapefruit. You can check online about fruits and blood pressure reactions. The May clinic is a good place to look. What has his Dr. said? I sort of think he’s exaggerating things in regards to fruit though.

why does my blood pressure spike when I’m about to get my period?
Im 25 and i take a dieturitic pill (prescribed by the doc) for HBP, and I notice lately with any little bit of stress by blood pressure spikes. I also notice that my blood pressure seems to spike the day before and during my period. Could there be a reason for this?
Yes, it’s possible the medication could be causing this. I would recommend checking with the pharmacist as well to see what they say.
Also, the spike could be related to the rise in hormones that are occurring because of the period being on the way. I would recommend getting in touch with your doctor as well to see what they think.
