An oxygen concentrator is an electrical machine which is utilized to supply oxygen for oxygen therapy at substantially greater concentrations than those of regular air to a patient.
Oxygen concentrators are used as an alternate to cylinders of pressurized oxygen or liquid oxygen. They’re able to provide a constant supply of oxygen and the most basic units are centered around two cylinders. These tanks are filled up with with a zeolite material which absorbs the nitrogen in the air.
In recent years several manufacturers have built portable oxygen concentrators. These generally produce a smaller quantity of oxygen and can also use demand flow, or pulse flow, which would mean that oxygen is only delivered when the individual is inhaling.
As the name suggests, affected individuals can move close to with these units as they’re small and just need a common electrical socket to connect into.
